What is the difference between traditional and ozone laundry?
Traditional laundry uses so much alkali and hot water to cause the formation of hydroxyl radicals (OH) from water molecules (H2O) that the wash water becomes highly caustic and damages valuable fabrics. This is done to make the fibers of the fabric swell and release the dirt. And it works, but only as a result of dangerously damaging tissue exposure to extremely high pH.
The truth of what is happening is that it takes heat and an extremely high pH to create hydroxyl radicals (OH) from water molecules (H2O). One of the hydrogen atoms is ripped off the water molecule, and then the hydroxyl radical (OH) that’s created does the hard work. With ozone laundry, you can create the same hydroxyl radicals (OH) with neutral pH and only in cold water containing dissolved ozone and without alkali. This is a revolution, and it really works without sacrificing valuable fabrics!
How does ozone laundry work?
Many people believe you need hot water, lots of detergent, and long wash times to properly clean your laundry. And once upon a time, that was true. But over the years, there have been big advances in laundry technology — including the development of ozone laundry systems.
Ozone wash is a revolutionary laundering process that uses a powerful oxidizing gas called ozone. Ozone laundry systems create ozone by combining oxygen and electricity. The ozone is then dissolved in the washing water.
When the ozone water comes into contact with organic materials in your laundry, it destroys (or “oxidizes”) them. That includes bacteria, viruses, mold, or other microorganisms. Ozone also breaks up many inorganic materials, including soils and greases. This makes it easier for water to remove these contaminants from your laundry and wash them away.
What are the benefits of ozone water washing?
How does ozone sanitize?
Ozone in cold water absolutely destroys the most common pathogens by at least 99.9% percent in just 30 seconds.
Ozone destroys many types of disease-causing viruses, pathogens, and microbes that chlorine and hot water just can’t touch, such as Clostridium Difficile, MRSA staph, and other drug-resistant bacteria. They can be spread from one person to another through contaminated linen in the washing machine!
Ozone destroys them by blasting holes in the molecular level of their cell membranes wherever it comes into contact with the bacteria. This type of assault cannot be avoided by any mutation or other bacterial defense mechanism. This means that ozone will always work to destroy all bacteria or viruses! Chlorine bleach cannot sanitize them!
What is the smell of ozone?
Ozone is a naturally occurring molecule made up of three oxygen atoms. In nature, ozone is formed mainly by sunlight or lightning, which causes an ordinary oxygen molecule (O2) to join with an unstable oxygen atom, becoming ozone (O3).
Have you ever walked outside after a big thunderstorm?
That’s ozone! Mother Nature produces massive amounts of ozone during thunderstorms to purify the environment.
